Pinotta

This is my favourite place in Melbourne. It is my go-to for interstate visitors to give them something to remember when they fly home. It is always consistently good. The food is often Italian and French inspired, but definitely not limited to. They’ve explored with dishes from around the world. It’s always delicious and the cook times are always perfect. The food is creatively complex and yet simple in what they serve up at times- genius. The pastas and sourdough are made in house. The flavours are always seasonal. The vibe of the place matches the food. Heidi is a great host and owner. The staff are all familiar faces who genuinely love to share the experience with you and treat you like family. Personal highlights - hand squeezed ‘gin and juice’ - the wine recommendations - the sourdough - Gorgonzola gnocchi / squid ink pasta - the steak sandwich (was a covid-temporary and missed fixture) - the fries - anything sardine related - the jazz band when Sunday dine-in lunches were a thing.

We had the best dinner here with our toddler (no small task!) the atmosphere, staff, and menu were all perfectly accommodating. The icing on the cake was when we were waiting for dessert with a tired toddler, they went to extra lengths to entertain him. So special. And the pasta was so delicious. (Hello, truffles!) It was a definitely a highlight on our holiday to Melbourne. Definitely coming back soon.

This was for a large party of not so young patrons. It has a private room at the back for big gatherings. Plenty of red and white wine and a few beers, the "Molly" the nicest beer in my view. Food was a variety of tasting dishes which were all very nice. Unfortunately the gents toilet was out of order. ( Urinals were ok.) This should have been fixed as a priority, but possibly no one available at the time. Overall a very nice experience.

I had previously loved dining here but was a little disappointed in our most recent experience here. The cottoletta was incredibly small, with a sad side salad for a price of near $50. Gluten free dish didn’t come out as requested. Service was quite awkward. For the price of our night here - felt like extortion for the food and service we received.
